As technology becomes an essential part of the HR industry, it’s more important than ever for HR professionals to stay updated on the latest trends, best practices and tools in the HR tech space. The event brings together the who’s who of HR and Technology leaders from across industries in the pursuit of understanding how to leverage the power of technology in the HR space

We’ve taken a look at the Agenda, and hand-picked the sessions that we recommend as the stand out events of SHRM Tech 2017:

Day 1

  1. Key Note Address by Josh Bersin

10:30 – 11:15 AM

One of the most respected names in Talent Management today, Josh Bersin - Principal and Founder of Bersin by Deloitte, kicks the event off with a fundamental re-look at how HR teams develop their strategy in the digital age.

Technology is causing seismic shifts in HR processes like team management, performance management, recruiting and L&D. That's why this session is a must for leaders looking to understand how to introduce new software, platforms and tools into their existing strategy, and how best to navigate through the quickly evolving landscape of HR tech.

  1. Panel Discussion: Artificial Intelligence: A real or perceived challenger

12:50 – 1:25 PM 

Isn’t AI suddenly the most popular topic in all of HR? Rightly so. The question on everyone’s mind however, has been – will we really lose our jobs to robots?

What we hope to see is that as repetitive, time-consuming tasks get automated by AI, the opportunity exponentially increases for HR professionals to re-focus their energy and time to making the entire function of HR more human.

The panel, moderated by Rajesh Ranjan of the Everest Group and comprised of industry leaders like Rohit Bhayana of Lumis Partners, Gaurav Ahluwalia of JPMC, Rajiv Krishnan of EnY and Belong’s own Vijay Sharma, will be a deep-dive into whether the impending dependency on AI in HR is a real concern, a perceived challenge, or actually an enabler of better relationships.

  1. 3 Tracks – Talent Acquisition/ Engagement/ Development

SHRM Tech then breaks down into three tracks to address the three biggest concerns of HR teams today – Acquisition, Engagement and Development. Each track is divided into two sessions each so you can choose to dedicate both sessions in a single track, or alternate tracks between sessions.

The Talent Engagement track focuses on the role of technology in performance management, and the Talent Development studies the impact of technology in L&D. We recommend attending at least one of the Talent Acquisition sessions that we’ve highlighted below.

2:15 – 3:45 PM: Decoding the Mind of the Modern Job Seeker

With smart phones and instant access to the net changing the way potential employees and employers interface, Talent Leaders need to relook at the way they are interacting with job seekers today. The first session in the Talent Acquisition track, moderated by Raghavendra K, SVP & Global Head, HRD, Infosys BPO Ltd, will help Talent Leaders adapt and prepare their hiring strategies for the modern candidate.

3:00 - 3:45 PM: Ensuring Day 1 Productivity

The second session, moderated by Brad Boyson, the Executive Director of SHRM MEA and featuring Dr. Subramani Ramakrishnan of IBM, Arvind Thothadri of Manipal Global Services and Nagendran Sundararajan of MeritTrac takes a deep dive into the state of employability of fresh graduates. Can Technology based holistic assessments and training modules that are designed to the specifications of hiring companies ensure that the candidates are ready for job on day 1? Let’s find out.

Day 2

  1. Report Launch: The HR Tech Landscape Asia launch and discussion

10:40 - 10:50 AM

Sierra-Cedar, the global offshoring company is launching their first ever report on the state of HR Tech Landscape in Asia. The research assists organizations with developing their HR systems strategy, devising a plan, justifying investments, and ultimately executing on their HR technology vision.

2:30 - 3:15 PM

While the first session launches the report, a later panel discussion with industry leaders like Stacey Harris of Sierra-Cedar, Josh Bersin, Sambhav Rakyan of Willis Towers Watson and George Oommen of Cognizant will deep dive into the study’s findings as well as its practical implications and applications.

  1. Big Debate – Tech v HR

4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

In the session we’re most looking forward to  - Tech leaders like Ravinder Pal Singh of Tata SIA (Vistara) and Vinayak Muzumdar of Deloitte go head-to-head against HR leaders like Suchitra Rajendra of PepsiCo, Abdul Jaleel of Adobe, Prithvi Shergill of HCL and Sabyasachi Bhattacharya of Phillips Carbon Black to settle the case for whether simplification or customised solutions are the best way forward for the adoption of Tech into HR.

Moderated by Nandita Gurjar, ex - CHRO of Infosys, this promises to be a lively debate to close out the most critical question being faced in the HR tech landscape today, and a fitting finale to the event.
