Mixers goes National: Outbound All Stars' Delhi Chapter Kicks Off

After the splendid success of the Bangalore edition of the Outbound All Stars Mixers, the Belong crew flew down to the national capital to host the first ever Mixers in Delhi.

With the temperature crossing the ungodly 40 degrees, the talent acquisition fraternity in Delhi-NCR got together to beat the heat at the chic Farzi Cafe in Gurgaon last week. Teams from Sapient, Airtel, Accenture, Genpact, Samsung, among others, gathered to learn from industry leaders, celebrate recruitment and have fun!

The evening started off with a powerful panel discussion hosted by Belong’s Aadil Bandukwala with Airtel SVP (HR) Aditya Kohli, Accenture’s global program director Purnima Kumar and Make My Trip’s director of talent acquisition Sagar Raina as panelists.

The discussion, themed around ‘New Age Recruiting Powered by AI and Machine Learning’, saw the conversations oscillating from the need for human intervention while using AI to a call for doing away with pedigree as a hiring criteria to how to create organization structures that foster innovation.

Talking about the role of AI in recruitment, Purnima cautioned that “AI should be driven in conjunction with the right operational knowledge. AI is useful with the right element of human and machine collaboration.”

Adding to this, Aditya Kohli emphasised how “technology was going to take human bias right out of the window.”

“The chances of getting to the right person is getting better today with the technology getting better. If we are able to tell with a high degree of certainty whether the guy who walks in our store will buy Phone A or B or how will he recharge, then I am sure we can use the same technology to find the right talent,” Aditya said.

Adding to this, Sagar quipped about how “job shopping was becoming an Amazon like shopping experience.”

Talking about HR claiming its rightful position at the board table, Purnima said:

“HR has always been seen as a back office function. The reason why there is so much investment going on in this function is because there’s a recognition that it is a strategic function. That’s why you see this vibrant environment in recruitment today.”

The discussion was followed by an award ceremony where we facilitated Outbound Recruiters who have gone above and beyond to make a mark and create massive business impact.

Mukta from Thoughtworks bagged the ‘Talent Magnet’ award for single-handedly hiring teams without job descriptions.
