The changing face of HR Tech is nothing short of a revolution. Every year, the number of solutions that promise to improve the efficiency of HR processes keeps increasing, and it can be hard to keep up with them.
The annual People Matters TechHR Conference & Exhibition brings together the best of HR Tech solutions, startups, and HR experts from around the globe to help leaders from both the HR and Business functions navigate through the HR tech landscape.
The conference, spread over two days and three tracks, covered subjects ranging from social hiring, design thinking, AI and Robotics to Big Data and Analytics.
Belong was proud to partner with People Matters at #TechHR17, and it was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, meet industry leaders that we look up to, and of course - explore the contemporary ultramodern trends and solutions in the industry.
The event opened with a keynote by Fons Trompenaars, a world renowned cross-cultural communication guru, consultant and author, who talked about how to deal with diversity (one of the key themes of the event) and how technology needs to be blended with analogue for success.
Why is diversity such a big issue today? It's because we're not well prepared for diversity. We seem to prefer bipolar thinking - our models are bipolar and culturally biased. We create models that represent the world on mutually exclusive polarities. - Fons Trompenaars
Soon after, we headed to the “GPS for Hiring Success” panel discussion which featured our CEO Vijay Sharma taking the stage with co-panelists Ganesh Lakshminarayan - COO Capillary Technologies and Yuvaraj Srivastava - Group CHRO, Makemytrip.com.
The discussion, hosted by Ester Martinez - CEO & Editor-in-Chief of People Matters, answered some burning questions like: How can AI, ML, Data driven Outbound Hiring enable talent leaders to drive business change? What structures and skills will be needed for the recruitment teams of tomorrow? How can a distinct employee brand be built at scale? And how to hire for a visionary CEO?
One of the most engaging themes of the panel was how to make HR a business priority on an organizational level. Panelist Ganesh Lakshminarayan of Capillary Technologies put it best when he said:
We also ran a Twitter poll as part of the panel, asking the larger online audience of HR Professionals what the top obstacles preventing TA teams from achieving what they want were:
The results, while not surprising, clearly highlighted the critical need for Talent Acquisition and Business to align and be active partners in the other's success.
We also made sure to check out other sessions through Day 1 at #TechHR17. Multiple tracks of the day focused on finding the perfect balance between machines and leaders and emphasized harnessing the potential of ‘intelligent machines’ for reshaping and encouraging a behavioral shift in HR.
At another insightful session, Manu Gopinath of UST Global discussed the emerging and evolving role of HR to drive digital transformation, up-skill workforce to adapt digital skills and sustaining a digital mindset, alongside Arun Rajamai, Country Head of Pluralsight India.
Later, Manu also swung by Belong’s booth and was clearly impressed to receive one of our personalized swag bags!
The day ended on a terrific note with all the attendees unwinding with some amazing music, wine and polaroid pictures at the Belong Booth.
The second day was all about analytics, gamification, and crafting agile, blended strategies for performance and innovation.
One of the keynotes we found particularly interesting was led by Shweta Shukla, Director of Human Resources Netflix India. She emphasized managing talent through candor, simplicity and vulnerability.
Later, we had Aadil Bandukwala of team Belong join one of the 'unconferences' where leaders of key HR Technology partners came together to crack the code of HR Technology Buying.
One of the best parts of the event was getting to interact with the hundreds of attendees who swung by Belong’s booth at the event to meet the team, learn about our Outbound Hiring philosophy and get a look at what we're building at Belong!
Team Belong had an amazing time meeting the delegates and fellow exhibitors at the conference and we look forward to being there next year. What about you?
